Self-Drive Hire - Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Can I come and view the car before I book?
A) Naturally. We are open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. Please telephone us first to make sure that the vehicle you require is available for viewing.

Q) How old do you have to be to hire a car?
A) You have to be between the ages of 30 and 70 and you also need to have a minimum of 2 years driving experience.

Q) Can more than one person drive a car?
A) Yes, but there is an extra charge of £25 for each additional driver. All drivers will be required to produce a valid driving licence and proof of address.

Q) Is there a mileage limit?
A) The Hire includes the first 100 miles per day, excluding the day of reurn. Additional mileage is charged at £1 per mile.

Q) Can we take the car abroad?
A) Unfortunately, we cannot allow our cars to be taken abroad. Our insurance only covers the UK.

Q) Can I hire the car for use as a wedding car?
A) Unfortunately not, you would not be insured to do a wedding, but it is a service we offer but only with our fully insured chauffeur.

Q) What happens if we break down?
A) You are fully covered by our AA Roadside Assistance policy, 24 hours a day.

Q) What methods of payments do you accept?
A) Cash, cheques and most major credit cards.

Q) What Insurance do I need?
A) Your booking will include comprehensive motor insurance for the car and driver(s). Other risks such as personal possessions, cancellation and curtailment are not included. We strongly advise you to arrange your own cover for these. Please also note that our motor insurance policy carries an excess of £500 which you will become liable to pay, in the event of a claim.

Q) What is the Security Deposit for?
A) If the car is involved in an accident or damaged during the Hire, the Security Deposit will be used to pay for the damage and/or the policy excess. We may require an additional sum to cover uninsured losses, if these are more than the insurance excess and again recommend you take out independent travel insurance to cover this.
